Remarks The Gentle Machine series marked a confirmed reinterest in my drawings from the seventies and a desire to revisit a more expressive approach to systems work.  It was exhibited in Leicester.

I had been thinking what kind of print image would be suitable for a cheap inkjet printer and remembered some of the older drawing styles.  There are some other layers of thought applied to the original concerns, notably the 'neutral' aesthetic of desk top publishing and a graphic style that sits between Swiss typographic traditions and kitsch.  Artistically much of what computers are and can be used for has given way to a visceral interest in the photographic image.  These works looked elsewhere, at a peculiar coupling, to the bureaucratic urban and Fine Art's short memory.
